John Trench — About Me
I am a qualified Psychotherapist and hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also hold a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and have worked in the self-employed sector for many years.
I feel I have a broad range of life experience and can particularly relate to the pressures associated with balancing family and business life. I work on a private basis with individuals aged 18 years and over. I have also worked for a range of organisations in Galway City including Galway University, Proconsult and Lets Get Talking providing counselling services.
My approach is primarily Integrative and Person-Centred meaning I use a variety of approaches to suit individual client needs. I also feel that spirituality can be a great support in maintaining psychological wellbeing. I cover all areas of general counselling including stress, anxiety, grief and loss, depression and more.
In counselling, I feel the first and most important part is developing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor. This is key to success in counselling and can take time to develop and deepen. My approach is to offer clients a safe, warm, compassionate, non-judgemental, empathic and confidential space to unpack their thoughts & feelings.
